Art Appreciation: Representative Color in Klee's "Sinbad the Sailor"

So again you know it's not as strong as the red of his legs and the red of his of of his spear. But it's strong enough to connect them and to give them I mean you know having the red mouth kind of brings up the slavering monster thing that you might think is appropriate for ocean beasts. And it sort of connects the figures together. The other thing you know the other choice he's made is you know these rather odd sort of very neutral oranges and very neutral blue-grays that make up the you know the bulk of the figures with. And again he makes the man stand out more, Sinbad stand out more by giving him brighter colors than he gives the monsters. So we know this the topic the subject of this is not really the monsters. Although there's several of them. It's this guy here because he's got the most the strongest color. So it's not that big a deal. It's not that you know it's not it's not rocket science as it were. But it's the way that artists can lead your your way around the picture and help you you know focus on the important stuff by adjusting the colors and where they put the color and where they repeat the color.
