Art Appreciation: Image & Color in Advertising

This is always amazing to me, how much variety there is, in basically one subject, you know. Really, truly everybody has a different vision, in a way. And, I just you know, pulled out these perfume adds. I mean, they all advertise a perfume. It's very hard actually to try to get the idea of what it smells like via an ad, via a visual. So, this is more about what the smell might do for you, in the end. But, notice what you know, notice the similarities and differences, you know. In terms of design a lot of them focus on the bottle itself, you know, the design and the beauty of the bottle, and we've got that going on here. A lot of the you know, a lot of them choose to center the item so that you know, this is about the perfume, there's no ifs, or ands, or buts about this. That's the image and you're very clear about the image. And, then it's up to the designer to make you know, his statement for making that perfume stand out for you, so that even if you don't know what it smells like, maybe the visual will get you to go get it. So, red is about love and passion, so you find red used a lot, in perfume ads. This one stands out because it has no color at all.
