Skateboard Trucks

Trucks; choosing the right skateboard trucks is very important since the trucks are the part of your board that does the turning and the grinding. So when you're picking out a set of trucks you're going to want to make sure that you get a good set of pro trucks. The trucks that I have here are Venture trucks, which lasts a long time and are very good. Cheaper brands of trucks tend to have a slipping axle eventually. What that is, is when the sides get hit a lot from not landing your kick flips, when they land like this they end up shifting and sliding inside and this is just from using inferior metals that aren't good so Venture trucks have axles that never slip. So when you're choosing your size truck what you want to make sure you're getting is a size truck that is the same size as the side of your board. You never want to have trucks that are too small for the board and you want to make sure that the trucks that you choose aren't wider than the board. What it'll do if it's too wide is it won't turn properly and if it's too skinny it also won't turn properly and it'll sort of teeter. So you want to make sure that when you put the truck on the board and line it up, that it stands ninety degrees and it's perfectly straight across so that's one way that you can test it. Now trucks are another item, behind the bearings, that are going to last the longest once you buy them. So you want to make sure that you pick out a good set of trucks and maybe spend a little extra money on a good set of trucks and make sure because they're going to have to last you a long time. Now trucks can last for a very long time and they can get ground all the way down to the axle because eventually you'll start grinding right here. Now this is where picking out a different brand may come in. Certain brands feel a little bit different because their metals are different so some people choose different truck companies. I like Ventures because of the way that they turn and because of the way that they grind. They kind of grind away slowly but they're also light at the same time. If you can notice that these Ventures are hollowed out on the inside so they're able to lose a little bit of weight by doing that. Whereas some other trucks a, the bottoms of the truck is solid and they're not able to hollow out as many pieces. So another thing to consider when checking out trucks and deciding which one is best for you is noticing that the king pin is lower into the board. Now if you look directly at the truck you can't really see the king pin, if it's lower than the top of the truck. This is what you want to try to find if you're into a lot of street skateboarding because the material that the king pin is made out of on a truck is much harder than the grinding surface of a truck. Now if you stick on a ledge or try to grind a ledge you'll notice that you'll stick if the king pins stick up to much. So that's why street skateboarders like these smaller trucks with the king pin a little bit deeper and this is how you pick out the proper skateboard truck.
