How can I prepare for agility training? What I recommend is after you've signed up for an introduction to agility, you will definitely have a better idea of how the course is laid out and what's required to compete. The first time that I did agility, I was actually more tired than a normal work-out at a gym because, just like the dog, you the handler human, have to think about directing your dog, as well as, physically running, moving and keeping up with the animal. As I've mentioned in a couple prior segments, not only does the dog have to exercise and prepare with nutrition and stamina but the human must prepare as well. I would say evaluate your diet and start a basic aerobic exercise routine, whether it's walking running aerobics or just getting to the gym, two to three times a week. Not only is it positive for the dog, working the dog mentally and physically, but the handles have to be in similar shape, to keep up with the agility base.
