Many customers ask me what's the easiest dog to train and what's the best of dog for agility. If you look at the history and results from many agility championships, generally, you will see herding breeds on the top of the list, such as, Australian Shepherds and Border Collies. I always tell customers the more dedicated you are and the harder you train and work with your dog, really, any dog can be a agility championship. Whether it's a herding breed, sporting breed, working breed or a toy breed, all dogs have the basic instinct to run, work and please an owner. Any breed of a dog will have a good shot at being a great competitor and a agility winner, with the right owner, focus and training. To summarize, there is no true number one best agility breed. If you get the right dog, with the right heart, discipline and will to work, they all could possibly be an agility champion.
