How to Install Car Brake Calipers

Hi! My name is Nate McCullough on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip we are going to talk about the proper way to reinstall the vehicle's brake caliper. This is your vehicle's braking caliper. You have to take care that you don't twist this hose. All brake hoses have these lines on them and you can follow them around and they should be in a straight line. If the hose is twisted when you reinstall it, that is going to bind up the inner tube and cause trouble in the hydraulic function of the hose. Take it and rotate the caliper onto its mounting stud here; right there. You want to make sure that this rubber seats on its ring; wiggle it back and forth and make sure that it stays there. The caliper is just going to rotate down in this direction. Once you have it down there, slide the mounting bolt through and give it a wiggle and its a good idea to go ahead and put a couple turns on it by hand. Hand tightening that bolt is critical. If you were to just put your ratchet on it and try and run it in, you may cross thread the threads inside your caliper bridge. If you do that, the bridge will need to be removed and retapped. Go ahead and take our 7 millimeter Allen and tighten our bolt down. This bolt does not require a use amount of torque for it to be properly mounted. About as hard as you can pull with just a couple of fingers and give it a snub. That's all the tighter it needs to be. That's the proper way to remount your vehicle's braking caliper.
