Singing for Talent Competitions at a Beauty Pageant
Hello I’m Erica Saylors and this is my assistant model, Ashley Charlton. I’m going to talk about the talent competition and specific category singing. Many contestants choose to sing for their talent competition. There are several things that you need to remember, several techniques that I’m going to explain to you. First of all when you’re singing with a mic, make sure that you have it right up in front of your mouth so that you are heard. If for some reason you hear a buzz or a strange sound, make sure you bring the mic a little bit out so that you have the correct balance and control that you need while you’re singing. Ashley is now going to demonstrate a line of a song for you, she’s going to sing Amazing Grace. And I’m going to point out what not to do and what to do. Amazing grace how sweet the sound. Okay stop right there. If you didn’t notice Ashley was rolling her eyes during the song. One thing you never do is roll your eyes while you’re singing, that just shows that you don’t want to be there and that you’re not enjoying the subject matter of your song. Ashley try it again, and this time put more feeling into it. Amazing grace how sweet the sound. Very good, very good. Because she put more feeling into it, because of her inflections, because she wasn’t rolling her eyes while she was sing and she had a pleasant look on her face it made me enjoy the song more and it will make the judges in the audience really appreciate your talent a lot more.
