Food Allergy Substitutes

One way to make sure, that if someone has food allergies, is to make sure that there aren't any of those food allergies in your household. For example, in my house, both of my daughters are allergic to tree nuts and peanuts. One of them is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, sunflower oil and peas. It's difficult to keep all of those items out of our house. For example, we like to eat eggs, so we just make sure that we don't have any kind of egg near my daughter. If we do eat eggs, we make sure that we brush our teeth and wash our hands and face, so that we if we do kiss her or touch her there is no egg residue on her, so we don't contaminate her with what she?s allergic to. We keep all, we keep the majority of these ingredients out of our house. What we try to do is find substitutes for the things that we are allergic to. For example, we're not eating peanut butter in our house. And, growing up, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were a staple in our lunches and also when we were children. So, rather than have peanut butter, we have what's called soy nut butter. And it looks exactly like peanut butter, has the same texture, the same feel, a slightly different taste, but we've grown accustomed to it. They also have sunflower butter. You must be careful though that you pick up the right kind of butter because there are almond butters, cashew butters and things like that. But the soy nut butter, it's, it is manufactured in a peanut and tree nut free facility and it tastes very good. In addition to that, instead of eating eggs in our house and baking with eggs, because you find that eggs are in almost everything, especially we like to bake in our home and make muffins and pancakes and things, there is a product called egg replacer. And this is used as a replacement for eggs when you're baking and I found it to be an excellent substitute, especially when you're baking cakes or muffins or anything that needs to go in the oven.
