Teaching Returning Adult Students: Invite Guest Speakers

The next thing that you might want to consider doing if you have returning students, or even if you don't, it's always a great idea and I find it very beneficial to use guest speakers, but guest speakers are especially good when you have returning students because the guest speaker can really talk about application in the real world. Their experience in the real world. Their being able to apply education to the real world, and this can help the returning student see beyond the perspective of the classroom. You know, you've got young students, you've got a professor who's been teaching for X amount of years. The returning student needs to be able to see beyond that. The returning student needs to be able to relate to real life. To relate to someone who, beyond the instructor, has taken these skills, have taken the subject, have taken this knowledge and used it in the real world to make a living or used it in the real world to build a career or to change careers. So I strongly recommend guest speakers.
