Butterfly Cut Card Trick

I’m Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com, and today we’re going to discuss flourishes. This next flourish is an actual cut known as the butterfly cut. It’s where the two packets mirror each other the whole entire way, like so. You just want to keep that going. It’s basically two Charlie. But when you get to this point, the one in either hand, this one or this one, is just going to have the middle finger on top. First finger on the bottom is going to pivot it over like so. Basically, after you end, you just come across and pivot over. To go further with it, you can stop your Charlie cut midway through, get your fingers underneath, fold those out on top of each other, turn it over, take the two other halves, fold them in, and the top pack comes like so. That’s the complete butterfly cut. Done at regular. That’s the butter, and then to do the actual complete butterfly where it’s two Charlies fingers come in and packs fold up like so. Broken down, it goes like this. To get ready, so both your hands look like this, you’re going to peel off half the deck, let it tumble into the hand and turn over, and then your fingers come around and get ready so they look identical. You’ll just being two Charlie the same in each hand. When you get to this point, your first finger comes back around and holds those cards there. Three fingers on top. First finger’s in the center, one will come out, the other will come out and they’ll lay on top of each other, so now you’re pinching them. With the middle finger and the first finger, you’ll flip them over like so so you’re in this position. Your thumbs come over and pivot these packets at this one comes on top and everything closes together. That’s basically as slow as I can do without dropping the cards everywhere, but it just takes the practice of getting ready so every thing's mirrored together. Dropping the packets, having them come up, putting your first finger in there, turning the packets over so they meet each other like so, spinning it, revolving these packets here, and then coming up with this one and it comes on top. That’s the butterfly cut.
