Using a Distraction for Defense
Hi! I’m Steve Jimenez with fitandfearless.com, Krav Maga, Austin. In this scenario, Marissa is going to be approaching the trunk of her vehicle. In this scenario she is going to be some what aware of her surroundings. The assailant is going to approach her from a safe distance from her, but she is going to do something that is called a distraction technique. Why don’t you give me the keys to your car? There are several different things you can do as a distraction to your assailant. One could be, if you are chewing gum, you could spit the gum at them. You could actually use actual spit to distract them. Our natural instinct when something is coming forward is, even if we are trained, is to put our hands up to defend. One distraction that works especially for the dumb attackers out there is, if you just happen to look over their shoulder like this, and just pretend that there is somewhere there, even though there isn’t, their own curiosity is going to force them to look back. From there, you come in with some kicks and you attack them. That is going to allow her to be able to use some combatives that will ultimately save her life. Give me the keys to your car. Give me the keys to your car.
