Creating Space in Defending The Front Bear Hug
I’m Steve Jimenez with fitandfearless.com and Krav Maga here in Austin, Texas, along with Marissa. We are going to go over in this scenario, it’s gonna be a bear hug from the front. Basically I am already deep down inside. She has not been able to base out. She may have noticed it too late. Now keep in mind with any self defense technique or anything you do, when you control the head, you actually control the entire body. So what’s key here is, notice when she comes around, she actually puts her finger right around my nose and uses that as leverage. She can actually stick her finger into my eye socket if you need to, to use that as leverage, but if she is using this hand here on the jaw to crank the neck, she already has control of my body. So whatever hand I’m facing you at, whichever way I’m facing, she’s gonna wrap her hand around my head. And with the other hand, she’s gonna actually use it as leverage. So from here she is going to twist my neck. This is actually going to take my base away. And if you watch her base foot, this is what does it, this is key, her right foot, or her left foot is going step back and turn, and she’s gonna turn me to the ground. From here, once she has the neck, she is ready to take me down, once she has control of the head. Now what she is going to do is she is going to move her body out of the way by turning and pivoting, or rotating. Notice how she goes into her good stance, look at how her legs are bent. She’s actually going to drive her legs down, taking the neck and the head and slamming it to the ground. From there she can go right into a foot stomp. She brings her back knee up, stomps her foot down on the head, chest, anywhere on the body.
