Using Eye Strikes in Self-Defense for Women
Get away! Okay, did you get that? Okay, what we just went over right now was an eye strike. What Marissa is going to do, this is just another variation of a straight punch; it’s a combative. This is a weapon that you have available to you. Especially if you have long nails, this can be very effective. What she is doing is she is picking her hands straight up. As soon as my hand comes out to her, she sees the motion in my hand. She is going to actually cut to the inside of my movement, coming straight forward right for the eyes. When she comes in for the eyes, she is going to come in an angle, like this, because if she comes on straight on this way, she may miss here or here, but if she comes in at an angle, she has actually more of a chance for one of her digits here to make contact with the eye. On eye strikes, you want to make sure that when you are sticking your finger there they are not limp. You have to tighten them up, make them firm and hard. One of the ways you can practice at home is, especially if you don’t have nails, you can actually take your hands and flex them just like this. Everything is hard; everything is real flexed and hard, and just take your hand and just go ahead and jab into the palm of your hand like this with all digits coming straight across. This is the one way to condition your fingers to be able to use these techniques. If you try to flex your finger with your thumb out here, you actually won’t flex them all the way a 100 percent. So what you need to do is you actually need to turn your thumb down up underneath the palm or the index finger, and that will actually help reinforce the flexing right here.
