Felt-Covered Soap: Designs

Now I've got two layers of wool on here and really I could stop here if I wanted to. I can feel that all the way around I've got an even layer of wool and I can feel my soap inside there. But I would like this to be a little fancier. So I can add a lot of different things to the outside of this. One of the things I mentioned before was my pre-felt. It's just a very thin layer of wool that's started felting but we're not really there yet. You can make these or you can buy them. I cut out a little L. We're going to pretend that I have lavender soap in here so I have a little purple L I can use I can decorate the outside so I would know that that was my lavender soap in there. I can also use more colors on the outside. I can arrange them in different ways. You can use little bits of yarn. You can add those on there. You can actually get fabric or a lot of other kinds of things to attach as long as you put a little bit of your wool over the top. So if that were not a wool fabric, say it was a piece of silk that I cut out, or I could cut a flower out of a printed fabric and put that on there. As long as I lay a little bit of wool over the top it should, if it's not too big of a piece of fabric, hold that on there and make it part of my felt when I get done. So those are just some of the options you have for decorating the outside of your felt.
