Felt-Covered Soap: First Layer

OK, the first step we want to do, is lay our first layer of wool around our soap. This is some ends and uglies that I bought from a soap maker. So, these are beautiful, natural soaps, but really you can do this with any kind of soap, Ivory, the soap from the hotel, whatever you want, whatever you get your hands on. When you get done, you're going to have a beautiful piece. So. To do our wool around our soap, we really want to make sure that we pull off very fine wisps of wool. This wool's about three inches long, so I need to lay the wool all the way around my soap, and I need to arrange it in criss-crossed arrangements, so that the fibers are not all going the same direction. And, I need to overlap, around the edges, all the way around, pulling off my bits of wool fluff, and wrapping it around. And this inside layer is not going to show, so it doesn't really matter what your color is on your first layer. But, you do want to make sure that you've got everything covered evenly, so that you don't have any holes in your final felt covering on your soap. So, once I get done, arranging all these in criss-cross ways all over my soap, then I can move on to the layer with the decoration that's going to show in the final product.
