How to Fix Bank Statement Errors

Hi! This is Summer on behalf of expertvillage.com in this clip we’re going to be going over another common error that’s found when your checkbook register doesn’t reconcile to what your bank statement shows and this error would be a bank mistake or a non-credited deposit. So first of all when were checking off the items that have showed up on your bank statement that were recorded in your register, if there was a deposit that was in your register that did not show up on your bank statement you want to ask a couple of questions. The first question you want to ask is whether or not this deposit was accidentally put into another account that you have at this financial institution, working with a financial institution for many years you know I wouldn’t say it’s a common mistake but it can happen sometimes if account numbers are similar or even the same but correspond to say a savings, product or a loan product or a checking product, it’s kind of a common mistake where a deposit would be put into a wrong account so instead of going into your checking account it may of gone into your savings account. So basically you want to check your other savings accounts and other accounts that you have at the financial institution to make sure that that deposit wasn’t put in a different account on error.
