How to Rate a Classic Car According to its Condition
Hi! I’m Lance Lambert host and producer of the Vintage Vehicle television show and owner of Lambert Appraisal Service. This particular car I felt was worth about $45,000 in its current condition. What condition are the cars? If somebody tells you their car is in number one condition that means that it’s equal to a brand new car or better, by better how can a car be better than brand new? Well a 1947 Ford had a certain level of paint and interior and somebody may have restored the car with a better paint job on it and a better interior than new but I’m always very spectacle when somebody says their car is in number one condition because it rarely is. So this is the kind of car that at Pebble Beach at a Concord is going to win first place because the car is as good as it can get, number two that is a car, usually people when they honestly think a car is in number one condition it’s really a number two condition. It says right here well restored a combination of superior restoration in excellent original, also an extremely well maintained original automobile showing very minimal wear, that’s a number two condition car you look at it and it looks like it’s almost new and then you look closer and it’s not in that quiet good condition but it’s still excellent. Number three that’s where most car are, lots of people that think their cars are really, really, really in great shape they’re actually number three cars, they’re a car that looks like it has been driven for a while, little rough around the edges. And then number four then a car is definitely starting to wore out, you’ve got some rips in the interior, you’ve got a couple of dings here and there in the body, a number for car is generally something that maybe has a hundred thousand miles on it or a hundred and twenty thousand miles. Then you get into number five and six and those are pretty rough cars on up to that rusting hulk out in the field that has a tree growing through the engine compartment, those are junk cars. My advice to you is if you have a car and you care about it and your insurance company says well you think you’re car is worth this amount of money we need to have that proved, go to an auto appraiser, have them do an appraisal on the car, you have a document to prove it to your insurance company should you car ever get wrecked or stolen, if you’re selling that vehicle you can give the appraisal to the potential buyer and say here this is why I’m asking this amount of money for it this professional appraiser thinks it worth that amount of money. Have an appraisal done on your car and hey if you are in the greater Seattle area and you need an appraisal done on your car, Lance Lambert Vintage Vehicle television show host and producer for the past 14 years and for the past 15 years I’ve been appraising automobiles, go ahead and get a hold of me I’ll be happy to take care of you.
