My name is Wesley Rhodes from the Chinese Kung Fu Academy and for Expert Village and this is how you perform the Cat Stance. Now to start the Cat Stance you're going to start with your feet straight ahead, you're going to turn the right foot out about 45 degrees, bend the knee, picking the left leg up, you're going to stretch it out, pointing the toe. You want to line the toes up, twist the waist and look straight ahead. For a beginner, this fine to have the stance a little bit high just to develop the leg strength. And again, you want to try and hold this stance from thirty seconds to a minute. You try the other side. Same thing, foot out 45 degrees, point the toe. As you get stronger, you get lower and lower. The knees should be no more than two fists distance apart, so that you can guard against growing kicks, so you can see it. Front ways. Sideways. One, two. And you want to make sure you don't stick your back out, you have to have your back straight, sit low, shoulders relax, head up. One more time so you can see it. Knees two fists distance apart, pointing the toes. There should be no weight on your front leg. This is the mobile stance made for quickness. Having your foot loose like this, allows you to change directions very easily. That how you going to perform the Cat Stance in Northern Kung Fu.
