Golf Tips on Chipping: Part 1
Hi! I’m David Anderson on behalf of Expert Village. We are here to talk about golf. The purpose of this demonstration is to show how to pop the ball get elevation on your chip shots if you find yourself buried in a fringe off the greens. So your approach shot to the green is a little off target, you are not on the short fringe just off the green but you are buried in the deeper fringe. What you need to do is take a lofted club. In this case, I have a pitching wedge and I’m going to show you how to get loft on the ball so you can avoid trouble and get the ball close to the hole. The ball is very deep in the fringe. The second cut just off the green. You need to get it close to the hole but you need to pop the ball up and get elevation so you can avoid any more trouble getting the ball on the green and hopefully close to the hole. So in this case I have a pitching wedge, a lofted club. I’m going to play the ball off my front toe, my left toe leaving right handed and I’m going to pop the ball up so I can get it close to the hole, just like that.
