On behalf of expertvillage.com my name is Neal Jones and I’m with A Perfect Fit Alterations, 102 Main Street Burleson, Texas our phone number is 817-447-3522. Continuing on our tour of the serger we’ve covered the front, the end, the back and now we’re to kind of the business end and there’s quiet a lot to show you here. This does look a little more interesting than the other parts, first this is our take up lever and the take up lever is used to raise the sewing foot so that we can put the fabric under it. Now it has two stages to it, we can come down with the take up lever which will raise the foot just a little bit and if we have an extra thick piece of fabric we can pull that lever a little bit more and then the foot will go up a little bit higher. Now built in to that take up lever we have a little notch right here and that notch is a thread cutter so when you’re sewing and when you come back to here in case you don’t want use the scissors you can pull the thread through there and there’s two little blades and it’ll cut it and as we come through here we have a light behind this little door, this is a service door that can open and it will open to allow us to change the light bulb and on some particular models there might be some other things in there but in this particular case the only thing we have in there is a light bulb. Now again we have slots here that don’t need to be covered these slots are to allow air to pass through here to cool a light bulb and allow the air to escape, that little cover stays closed most of the time. Moving forward from there we can see the release lever right here for the foot to change the foot we have a screw here that secures the main bracket for the foot, we have our sewing head our needle head bar, a need bar above that and our needle head here and then needle head has a couple of different things on it. It has guides and again as I’ve emphasized with the top of the machine it’s very important to make sure that this thread does not become tangled anywhere so that as we progress through the machine you’ll see that there are thread guides to make sure that the thread goes exactly where it’s suppose to go. So here we have a spring loaded thread guide right here and we have a left and right needle and the screws to remove the needles and to replace the needles and then we have another thread guide directly below that to make sure we direct the thread into eye of the needle. Over on this side we have a control that releases the pressure on our cutting head it will push into the machine and release the cutting head and then here we have a control which controls the stitch width and this will be set in another segment. Then we have a small hole here which is to give us access to a screw which would be taken that to release this cover right here.
