Hi! My name is Adria and I’m one of the professional jugglers here at expertvillage.com. We’re starting the videotape on knives, the very first segment is knife safety if you watched any of the other video segments that I’ve done before the knives I’m wearing nice comfortable workout pants, for the knives no. The reason for this is very simple, those pants are baggy and they’re loose, they’re very nice if you’re jogging they can release the sweat, baggy pants when you’re working with knives can get caught on the knives, anything that can catch the knives in mid flight is a danger. One very important thing to keep in mind, do you see these knives? They are indeed wedged shape, they’re not razor sharp but a wedge can chop down a tree, a wedge can go into a wooden floor, a wedge can go into a foot, two Saturday’s ago I sliced both thumbs and I am a careful juggler so when you’re working with knives you have to be aware of the dangers of knives, you have to be very good at juggling clubs before you even start to pick up a knife, you can’t be able to do sometimes a three club cascade, no you have to be perfect with clubs before you pick up knives. I’ve know many people who are professional knife jugglers who made a bad throw in midair, sliced the tendons of their hand this happened I guess about 7 or 8 years ago, he’s had four operations and still can’t juggle yet. Knives are very dangerous, they’re not toys, do not play with these, do not play with them in anyone’s house. I have two million dollars of insurance just to cover my knives, look at that Clowns of the U.S., lousy name good insurance, I make sure to keep my insurance updated every year that way I’m covered, if I have an accident with the knives and harm someone’s belongings, I never have hurt another person with the knives because I only perform the simpler patterns that I am positive I can perform without a drop in public. I wear nice tight clothing when I’m working with the knives because I don’t want anything to get stuck and I don’t want anything to be caught. I practice my knives in my living room of my house which is where we’re doing this video shooting, I have very thick patting under my carpet, if a knife gets dropped the pattern dampens the knife so it doesn’t bounce as hard as if it were off concrete or wood there’s time to jump out of the way, if I make a bad throw I jump out of the way, if I hear a collusion midair I jump out of the way, if I know that I’ve thrown a knife badly I don’t say to myself, “oh I can catch it and reach for it” I let it fall and jump out of the way, these are knives they can hurt.
