This is Josh Z and I am in a band called The Mother Truckers and we are going over some country licks today. One of the common techniques is to tuck your pick up in to your first finger like that and use your thumb and middle finger for. The reason I like to use the thumb and middle finger because if you just use your pick, it is a little messy and lacks definition. If you use the flush, every time you go to play the other note, you mute the note before it so that it stands out one note at a time. So we are in this sort of E major position, so that's our double stop. We can add a little chromatic walk down; sort of a classic thing to do. So slowly, which is a little bit out, the note sounds a little bit out of tune if you play it slow. Sounds kind of cool. You could do it upwards too.
