How to Remove Interior Strut Mount Parts
Hi my name is Nat McCullough on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip we are going to talk about some of the interior components that you need to remove to gain access to your upper strut mount. The manufacture could use a wide range of fasteners to hold the plastic portion of your interior together. I have one of them here as a example. Now what you have is a stud and some spreader as you take a look the spreaders are on the outside and this is in the attached position. Now to remove these style fasteners the center needs popped out. You could do that with a small flat screwdriver or pick or whatever tool you decide to use. Don't try to just yank them out. You would break them and they are about a buck fifty a piece. What you do is pop the center out just like that and you could slide the assembly out of its corresponding mounting hole. Now you would have other things to deal with possibly screws things of the nature. Really does widely. The idea the concept is to not force anything. If it doesn't come easily apart you have missed a fastener some where it is going to be underneath the seatbelt buckle, behind the seat, or under some carpeting you are going to want to take time in order to avoid incurring additional expensive. Okay I have my tool of preference right here to doing interior work. What we are going to do is pop the center out just like so. Once that is popped out the rest of the fasteners can be removed. Now I have gone ahead and done some prework and removed all of the other fasteners. I just wanted to demonstrate how this works. Now various manufactures use different styles but the concept will remain the same. You got to pop the center of it out and then remove the whole assemble. Once you have all the fasteners removed as you could see the hole inside would peel apart. Now we have a little bit of sound detuning material right here that would just flop out of the way and that is going to expose the mounting bolts or nuts for our upper strut mount.
