Tai Chi: Draw the Bow

In this segment we'll be talking about draw the bow which in the yang style long form it shows up after the lotus sweep kick from the last segment. So we had just kicked with the foot, the hands are at the corner, leg is to the side. Now we're just going to draw a big circle but we don't do it just throw our arms around. We have to keep the tai chi principle and concept. So I push with my leg I turn to the opposite corner, I push with my leg circle the arms around, turn to the corner. Now we want to be careful don't turn all the way here yet, just to the corner. Now I'm going to push back with this leg and what's unusual here for yang style is I'm going to end up in this sixty forty stance. So as I push with this leg, I'm going to end up with sixty percent of my weight on my right leg and I'm going to draw a bow sitting down looking in that direction. So if you look at where my center of gravity is it's not here, it's not here, sixty percent. So I've done my kick, I come around turn to the corner, come around turn to the corner, shift back sit down, draw the bow. You want to have a sense that you are sitting down drawing a bow. Be careful not to pull back just draw open ward, both hands in a light fist.
