Acupuncture Diagnosis Tips

How I reach the diagnosis before we started choosing different points to treat the patient. First, we ask the medical history, the symptoms. Then, we combine other diagnostic method. For instance, we look at the patient's tongue and see what's the color of the tongue, if there's a purple spot and what's the coating and underneath the tongue, there is a blood vessel. For this particular patient, he has enlarge and purplish blood vessel there, that means the blood circulation is not optimal. It does not mean currently he has some heart disease or other problems, but it means the blood circulation is not perfect. So we have different patterns of tongue. And also, we feel patient's pulse, not only count how many beats per minute but also we feel if it's a strong, deficient or if it's a regular and different position connected with different internal organs. So combining the tongue-pulse symptoms and also we can palpitate disease area and smell body fluids, and combine all of these symptoms to reach a diagnosis.
