Before we get started sharpening our tools I want to talk to you a little bit about safety. Woodturning and woodworking can be dangerous so before you operate any of the equipment in your workshop make sure that you have read and understand the operating manuals and how to use the safety procedures. Never try to turn or work when you are tired or if you have consumed alcohol or taken any drugs. You also want to make sure that you are not wearing any loose clothing or any jewelry that hangs around your neck or on your wrists because it can get caught in the wheels as they are rotating and sharpening your tools. I always wear a glove on my left hand both the fingers you can see have been removed because the only thing I want to protect is this area right in here because sparks will come off the tool as you sharpen and sparks are going to hit your hand and they will be hot.
