Make a Jeans Handbag: Making Strips for Strap

Now, I'll show you how to make the strap for our handbag. We're going to be ripping two strips, 30 inches by 3 inches wide. So, when you're ripping, you want to just do a starter cut and you want to take a look at the grain of the fabric. You want to see the weave of the fabric, that it, that it, when we rip it it's going to go straight through and not at a diagonal or any other strange kind. We want to just rip that, because I want the fuzzy edge. And, if you don't care for the frayed fuzzy edge, then you can just cut your strips for the strap. And, I'm going to make a nice wide strap, because a nice wide strap is very comfortable to wear. And I'm going to have a 3 inch strap, and we want two of these. So I'm cutting, uh, you can make it any length that you want. I'm going to just take off this fat seam at the end, and pull away any extra threads, like that, and that gives you a nice fuzzy edge. And I'll do one more strip. And, we'll go to the sewing machine, and sew the strips together.
