Home Pilates Exercises: Prone Leg Lift

This exercise is called a prone leg lift, and this is a really great Pilates exercise to work the glutes, the lower back, your inner thighs. And typically, we may use a Pilates ring to help us with this exercise put our bodies into perfect position. But if you don't have a Pilates ring, you can grab a roll of paper towels, and do the same thing with it. So what you're going to do is come to a prone position. You're going to lay your forehead down on your hands, and then once you do that, engage your legs by squeezing against the roll of paper towels. Point your toes, and lift your legs up off the floor, and lower down. So what you want to try to focus on is lifting your quadriceps up off the floor. Now, as you perform this exercise you're going to keep your forehead down on your hands, and really squeeze the glutes, work the lower back muscles, engage the inner thighs. And always lengthen out through the crown of your head as you perform this exercise. Exhale up, inhale down, and perform about ten to fifteen reps of that exercise, and then take a rest.
