Harley Davidson: Air Filter Removal

Okay, now that we have the cover removed, I always go for safety. Up here is the battery. We have the positive and the negative terminal. Just personal preference--I then get rid of a ring and a watch band, a metal watch band that could conduct electricity. I'm not in the mood for any shocks or surprises. Neither should you be. So just kind of get rid of those--forget about those for now. And then we're going to remove the air cleaner--air filter. There's just this thumb screw here. And then that removes the filter. And then the fun begins. So after we do that, we need to come over here and grab us a five millimeter that we can get serious. Now, we have all these-in awkward positions--these little five millimeter screws that we have to take out. There's a total of, I believe, six of them. Some of them are hid very well. Back in here, you may not be able to see all of them, because the rubber hoses tend to go around it, but they're there. You just have to locate them. And then there's one back in here, and you really have to look for it. So, once we get these loosened up, this will take the stacks off, which will then show you the butterflies right down inside here. There you go. And you want to make sure there's two different sides. In the rear is the shorter stack, in the front is the taller stack, and they've got to go back right.
