Removing Rear Motorcycle Tires

Normally when you have a street bike, you're going to go through all kinds of tires, tons of tires. And the back tire is the one you're mostly going to change out. The way you can tell when the tire's bad is it'll have a flat spot in the middle. I don't know if you can see this, but it actually rounds up and then flattens right here. This is just from long straight road wear. And when it starts getting like this, and you see the inside tread worn down, almost down, you want to change this tire immediately. So what we did, we went and got this, it's the Metzler Sport Tech M3, and this is a really, really nice tire. This is a high performance tire. This is better for the canyons, a little bit stickier, it's softer. You might go through this tire a little bit faster, because it is a softer compound but you're going to get a lot better performance with this tire. So I'm going to show you real quick how to pull the tire off real fast. We'll go get it swapped out, and it'll be on, back on before you know it. We'll just take this back nut off. Loosen this. What you want to do is, hit the tire. Pull that guard out. You're going to come over here, you're going to shimmy this out a little bit. Sometimes it takes a little coaxing with the hammer from the other side. That's out, push it forward. You'll take the chain off. And then you just take the chain and hold it to the side, and roll the wheel forward, the chain will come right off, just like that. And then what I like to do is I grab the wheel by the spoke. Pull the axle out. There you go, the wheels out. We'll take it over to the place that has the wheel machine. They'll take the tire off, they'll properly balance it, and we'll throw it back on.
