Today we're changing a rear latch on a ninety-six, Ford Explorer. In this step, I'm going to demonstrate the proper procedure for reconnecting our electronics and remounting our door latch, to the frame of the door. First thing I'm going to do, is take and reach up, inside the door frame and hook up the electronic connector. This latch has a little switch in it that triggers the door ajar light. So if you leave this open, your light will be on and it'll let you know. It actually has that little electronics, built into it. What I'm going to do here, is take and line-up, my bolt holes and start my bolts. You're going to want to start all of them before tightening any of them down, just like so. You run them down as far as you can, by hand. Now, there's no adjustment for the latch, all the adjustment is built into the catch pin, on the frame of the vehicle. So you don't have to worry about adjusting your latch. Now, if your bolt holes slotted, what you're going to want to do is take and line-up the paint marks, from where the original one, was installed. There's one, two and for the last one. And there you go. That is the proper service procedure for remounting your latch and reconnecting your door ajar switch.
