Choosing an Improv Comedy Class

So you've decided to take the plunge. You want to try improv comedy and you want to start with an improv comedy class. I want to talk to you about how do you choose the place that you're going to take improv comedy classes. The number one tip I would advise you is go see a show at some local improv theaters. Most towns have one, two, three, four, five places or troupes that do improv comedy, especially in the larger cities. So before you just sign up for a class online I would suggest going to see a show. What are the people like, what are the performers like. I say good shows are good improvs when you are watching it even with an untrained eye you should want to jump up on stage with those people. You should want to hang out with then after the show and if you get that feeling watching the show, I think it's a good place to see, to take improv comedy classes. Say you're in a place that doesn't have an improv comedy show, a good thing to do is to go online and google improv comedy classes and see what turns up. Often times acting schools and acting classes have one or two improv classes they offer. And it's a great, you can always call them up ask questions for your goals and see if the improv classes are a good fit for you. So that's my suggestions, go see improv shows, talk to the performers after the shows and ask about classes. Look around online and see what improv classes are available for you, improv schools or acting schools or even at the local university or university extension classes and take a dip. Sometimes you have to take a plunge, try the first class and see how it goes from there. But it's usually kind of hard to explain in how great improv can be until you actually experience it. So I think the best thing to do is experience it, sign up for a class and see how it goes.
