Jacking Up Car to Change Fuel Pump

Hi my name is Jeff Fiffie. I'll be showing you how to remove and replace a fuel pump on a Lincoln Continental. Now we want to jack up our car to give us enough clearance up under the car so we'll be able to slide under there and get the tank off. Here I'm using a two ton jack, fifteen hundred pound capacity to jack up the side of our car. Alright, we have our jack stand here. First you want to tighten, our bolt here to make sure it doesn't slip down on us. Looking underneath there, make sure that we're positioned properly on the frame of the car and start our jacking procedure. Okay, now we have enough clearance, okay we can jack it a little bit more and make sure we have enough clearance. Okay, on most cars there is a little slot that a jack stand can go right into, so we can place it there. Now when we let our jack down, make sure you do it nice and slowly, move your hands up out of the way so we don't get our hands caught in there. Okay now that side is set. Now lets move over to the other side, passenger side. Okay now on our passenger side we're going to slide our jack in. Once again, we'll make sure that our jack is mounted right on the frame. You want to test your frame, make sure we don't puncture anything or damage the floor of the vehicle. Okay, slide our jack stand in position, where it's easy to slide it up under the car once it's in the air. Begin jacking.
