My name’s Chris and now we’re going to talk about keeping a beat and integrating the other parts of the drums, okay. Now then, what I’m going to do is I’m going to demonstrate for you one measure of four-four and then I’m going to play half a measure of four-four on the high hat, base drum and snare and then I will roll down on the toms and we’ll use them, okay. So let me demonstrate, here we go. One, two ready go. Okay that is called a drum roll. Simplistic as it may sound this is what a drum roll sounds like, okay. Now then, picked up on that same time signature I will play a little more complex but just so you can get the idea of where I’m coming from. Same time signature but we just added a little more with the high hat, base drum and the snare. Now you can see my concept with using the metronome keeping a beat but as long as we can get the core beat down, the core tempo we can add on top of that. And that’s where the toms come in because you can use these to fill and they are very great in transitioning from a verse of a song into a chorus or bridge.
Too basic for me
