Grab Handle Removal: Ford Explorer Lift Gate Repair

Today, we're changing the power lock actuator in the rear lift gate of a ninety six Ford Explorer. In this step, I'm going to demonstrate the proper procedure for removing your grab handle, the cover plate for your lock button and the cover plate for the latch glass. What we're going to do is I have a flat blade screwdriver, we're going to slip this guy right in between the door skin and the cover plate. You're going to want to pop this off and inspect behind it for any hidden screws, just like so. Got the same style device for the door lock. We're going to pop that guy off. We're going to sit these down out of the way so they don't get damaged. I'm going to take my number one Phillips screwdriver and take the screws out of our grab handle. There's one. We'll put this in the magnetic tray. And there's the second one. You're going to pull down on the grab handle and slide it out of position, just like so. That is the proper service procedure for removing your grab handle, your lock button cover plate, and the glass latch cover plate.
