Chair Yoga for Seniors: Boat Pose

We'll conclude today's practice with modified boat pose novasa. Sitting steady and comfortable in our seats, we'll take our hands to the side of the seat. Pressing the knees together, begin to lean back and draw the knees towards the heart. Inhale to open your arms out to the side. And, remember if your feet are only one inch from the floor you're still getting the benefits for the pose. If possible, bring the arms together. Engage the belly. Inhale to open the arms, balancing so nicely. Exhale, release your feet to the floor. Counter stretch forward fold, which feels so nice. Release tension from the neck and shoulders. And, inhale to sweep the arms back up over head. Reach tall. Exhale, release your hands to the chair seat. And, we'll repeat the pose. Leaning back, bring the knees and feet high. Inhale to open the arms. Exhale, bring the hands together but not all the way. Parallel, good. Inhale, open the arms. Exhale, forward fold. A nice controlled release. Let's tuck our chins to the chest. Inhale and begin to roll back up to seated mountain pose. Or, tadasana. This concludes our modified navasana boat pose.
