How to Pump Car Pedals
Hi! My name is Nate McCullough on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip we are going to talk about the last step in replacing our broken lug stud. In order to gain access to our broken lug stud, we had to remove several braking components. Any time you remove the brake components and re-install them no matter what you are doing, you do have to in fact pump the brake system back up into operating position. They will self adjust but it takes a moment to do so. You are going to want to do that with the vehicle sitting still instead of trying to adjust them when you need to be stopping. You simply pump the brake pedals by stroking it just as if you were applying the brakes. Medium pressure, do not ride the brake pedal all the way down to the floor. You can potentially damage your master cylinder and require more service. Once you feel a dramatic increase in resistance, you will feel the brake pedal get real stiff; that will indicate to you that the brakes have been pumped up properly.
