This is a cutting activity. We put out different strips of paper with little snips already on them. The first ones that we set out are the ones with the lines the furthest apart. So we might give the children a choice of just a few of the wider spread. The children choose a pair of scissors and a baggy to put their snips in, and they put it in their tray, and carry this all to the table. When I'm presenting the activity, I show the children how to put everything in their tray, carry it with both hands. Hold up the piece of paper, they hold the scissors, upright. This is pointy. These are very sharp, you need to be very careful with that. Show them how to cut pieces off. The scissor points always stay up, and you only move your paper. Put the scissors away. This is also another really good activity. The Ziploc baggies are a very good activity for the pincer grasp. This is a nice pincer grasp activity as well, just having them pick up the pieces of paper, and put into the bag, and then show them how to zip it up.
