Attaching a Vehicle's Struts to a Spindle

In this clip, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for removing and replacing a front strut on a front-wheel drive vehicle. In this step, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for reattaching our strut to the spindle. Have my large strut mounting bolts here. I'm going to go ahead and align my spindle and slip it into place. If your holes on the strut or the spindle are slotted, make sure to align your index marks before torquing down the bolts. Aligning those index marks will reestablish your camber angle thus avoiding you having to go to a shop and paying for a front-end alignment. And for the bottom one. Right there. I'm going to take and start my nuts on there. And for the other one. Alright, I'm going to take my ratchet and wrench and go ahead and tighten them down. Like I said earlier, before you torque them, it those holes are slotted, you're going to want to go ahead and line up your index marks before you torque the bolts down. You don't have to worry about over tightening these bolts, they're a hardened grade A bolt and should be tightened down just about as hard as you can with one hand and a good size half inch ratchet. Right there. I'm going to go ahead and torque my lower bolt. As you can see, I'm working my wrench and my ratchet opposite from each other. What that will do is cut the time in half it takes to tighten up the bolt. Got a really easy spot there. Alright, take it and toque it down. Right there. And that is the proper service procedure for reattaching your strut to your spindle, installing the bolts and torquing them down.
