Planting Indoors: Growing an Herb Garden
Hello, my name is Jose Zuniga. I'm representing expertvillage.com. We are basically... what we are doing is planting an indoor herb garden. As you know they are going to go in pots. We are going to start by filling this particular pot, that is going to hold two different herbs, with some organic soil, and just fill it all the way and a little bit half way. This is fun. It is more enjoyable when you do the indoor because it is faster and easier then outdoor herb garden. Right here we are going to be using our wonderful basil. Before you do that, apply pressure to the container. Just go around it. It is going to loosen up the roots. Flip it down. There, nice and easy, and as you can see it is kind of dry, but it is okay because we always have to control the water drainage. Herbs do not like a lot of water; you will kill them. So this is just perfect. So just place them here to this corner. Get some potting soil here on the side. Now we are going to do the same for this container for thyme. Just apply pressure; we are trying to loosen up the roots. There we go... ain't that a beauty? Do the same thing—apply it here on the side. Be sure to fill it up with soil all around. You know as you could see, this particular pot it is not that high, but it is still going to do the work because we don't have to worry about the water, because we didn't have to control the water drainage. So it is going to work perfectly. Ain't that a beauty. You know another thing that you need to consider is that while you are placing them inside the kitchen, stay away from heat. Mints—don't put anything nearby your stove, because your stove, that heat is going to kill your herbs and we don't want to do that. When it comes to the aloe we can use a bigger pot. You are going to get the soil of course and just keep it away from heat and no sun. It does not like the sun; the sun would definitely kill it. And as you can see, I already have some of those wonderful chives in our container, and I have more plants. So come on guys help me plant the rest and enjoy your herb garden. This is how we plant a indoor herb garden.
