Rock Turn with Partner in Foxtrot Dancing
Hi! This is Leslie Sack with ExpertVillage.com. My website is LeslieSack.com, and this is my dance partner, Jorge Saucedo. We're demonstrating foxtrot for you, and we're going to be doing the basic combined right rock turn and the left rock turn. So we'll talk you all through it. This is the guys' part. Gentlemen, you're going to walk forward, forward, forward, forward, side together—that's the front half basic, and then you're going to do the right turn. So it's rock back, forward, side together, you go slow, slow. We're going to do one more: slow, slow, quick, quick—that's the first half. If you wanted to repeat that, you could. Now we're going to be really fancy dancers. Guys you are going to walk backwards, to the back, part of the basic. Then we're going to rock forward on the left: slow, slow, remember your court going on your heel, slow, slow, two more, slow, slow. So let's put that all together. Here we go. Guys walk it forward. Slow, turn a little bit right, and now I'm going to continue to turn right by rocking back on your left. Quick, slow, slow, let's do one more, slow, slow. Now guys, walk backwards, back, back; now we're going to rock forward on the left, so we turn left. One more, slow, slow, shoulders set, guys you're walking forward first, then you're going to rock back. It's a little confusing; hopefully not though. One more. So do about three of those, then you get used to it, and then guys walk backwards, slow, slow, quick, quick, left turn, quick, quick, one more, slow, slow, quick, quick. So these are great moves, especially if you are on a small dance floor.
