Hi! My name is Jeff and I am going to be talking about pre-wetting black and white film. The first thing you are going to want to do is pre-wet your film with, most people use distilled water, you definitely want to use clean water. You just fill the can up with water, get it good and wet, make sure you have jarred all of the air bubbles from the film so you tap the can against something hard and then you just pour that water out and pour your developer in. Then start the timer, you know what temperature the developer is at, how long you want the developer in there and you develop it. The thing you need to know about pre-wetting film is it is going to change your development time because the developer is going to respond faster to a pre-wetted film than a dry film. So you are always going to want to do it one way or the other to establish a good processing time. If you try switching back and forth, it is going to change your density. Some people subscribe to it, some don’t. The film dry has a wetting agent on it and so you will have to be the judge as to whether you like it or not. When you pre-wet the film, you do rinse that off and you are pouring that out. Some people like it, some don’t. You will have to make up your own mind.
