So now we're going to talk about how to make your own glazes and all the things that you need to do that. First of all you need to find some recipes. And it's very important that you know the cone of your clay; what temperature you'll be firing to; and also whether or not you'll be firing in oxidation or reduction. Because different glazes are going to react very differently. And then once you know that information you're going to go on line or to a glaze book. Somewhere that has some basic recipes. And you're going to look through for just some basic recipes. I have several of my recipes that I've tested and that I use here but you're going to need to get a whole bunch of different recipes. Most of them you'll be able to find information on someone else's tests of what their experience was with that glaze. That'll give you an idea of colors, of fit to the clay body. Things like that. And you can go from there. So amass some recipes to start testing with and then I'll go into how you start making your test glazes.
