How Piano Hammers Work
As a percussion instrument, the Piano produces its sounds by hammers falling on the strings. The harder I push the hammers the louder the sound is going to be. If we take a look inside the piano we can see how these hammers are built. The hammers have a felt tip so they don’t harm the strings and then when you let go of the key another piece of felt comes and covers or muzzles the strings so that it stops producing the sound. If we hold down that dampener peddle; the sustain peddle when we press the notes the second piece of felt is prevented from falling on the strings and stopping their sound.
