How to Remove Jack Stands

In this clip, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure in order to remove and replace a broken CV joint also known as a drive shaft on a front-wheel drive vehicle. In this clip, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for re-jacking our vehicle, removing our jack stands and settling it back to the ground. You're going to want to use a heavy duty floor jack and aim for a very stiff part of super structure on the vehicle or engine cradle. Once you've located a desirable spot, go ahead and begin the pumping procedure. You're going to want to pay careful attention not to jack on the bottom of the radiator because it will damage it. It will bend and begin to leak. Once you have it up off your jack stands, you can release the safety catches, slide it out of the way, we'll slide this one out of the way as well. Once you have your jack stands out from underneath the vehicle, do not go back under it for any reason. These jacks have 30 cent seals inside of them and that's what you'll be hanging your life on is a very small piece of rubber. You're going to take and turn the jack handle in the release direction which is normally counterclockwise very slowly and let the vehicle settle to the ground. And there you go. That is the proper service procedure for re-jacking your vehicle, removing your jack stands and letting it settle down to the ground.
