Beekeeping: Inspecting a Beehive

Now these beehives are here in the orange groves. The orange groves are blooming they have a few supers on them already. You see a number of boxes here depending on how strong they are and how much honey is in the hive. I haven't added any boxes here for probably ten days. But our weather has been a little bit cool so we haven't had the best conditions. But when you look at a beehive give it a little smoke at the entrance. Get their mind off of you and I'm going to see whats happening inside thats pretty good activity. You will notice here a little bit of white tips on the edge of this white bees wax here. Thats called whitening the comb and they do that in a honey flow. In fact you will see a little bit of nectar here and there and that one can use a extra box because in another of couple of days of good weather and they will need more room. This one is weaker you will notice not as many bees. A little more activity there. Hey, looking good girls. A lot of bees there you will see more wax here there actually adding honey to that comb today. I will hold one of these honey combs up and you notice the nectar the new honey thats in those combs glistening. The bees are working on it right now. There doing good.
