So this is the device I'm going to be using to take me blood pressure for you in this video. It's a little home, hand held device that's going to take blood pressure from the pointer finger of my left hand. It's pretty simple to operate. You power it on with this button and it will instruct you to tighten the cuff around your finger. It's important to hold it at heart level, like thus, which you will see when I take my blood pressure in the next setting. And I will feel the cuff tighten around my finger to a certain extent. It will take a series of readings and there will be a beep and it will report my full blood pressure to me. Both my systolic diastolic readings. The most important thing about this is to remember to not drink alcohol or caffeine or smoke twenty minutes before you take it, to make sure your feet are uncrossed and resting on the ground, and also to go to the bathroom before taking your blood pressure. The extra water and minerals in your body can cause a change in the blood pressure reading. If, for any reason, I doubt the reading that I'm getting, I can go ahead and take it again. Or, you can always ask your doctor or the nurse, nurse practitioner, medical assistant at the doctor's office to take your blood pressure for you. Although some people get white-coat hypertension and it makes for an inaccurate reading. Hence, redo the home reading.
