Hamstring Aikido Stretch

One thing that we should address is that there's a lot more flexibility required in aikido then a lot of people give credit for. So, this next round is going to be primarily focused on correct, well, correct stretching. But also principally looking at what stretches are most useful, and how they can actually be incorporated into daily life. So, we've already covered a few of the basic stretches, so essentially, one that's kind of easy to do and you can do it while you're sitting up in bed if you really need to, is historically, legs together, feet up, stretch forward, but you want to, you don't want to round your back to do it. Keep your back totally flat, slide forward, and try to crease at the hips. Now, I'm already feeling it. So it shows that I'm rather inflexible today. So, keep it relaxed. If you can, reach for your feet, stretch it out. If you need a little more comfort, and this is, I consider this to be a safer way. Push forward, and try to breath down. Again, you're trying to stretch your hamstrings. You're trying to pull through the hips a little bit. And you're trying to crease. You're trying to make sure that you're moving at the hips, and not rolling over. So. Easy hamstring stretch.
