Timers for Start & Shut Off on a Mac

Tony from expertvillage.com alright we are now I have open up the system preferences I'm going to basically show how you could set your computer, your Macintosh to turn off at a certain time or turn on a certain time. So basically you go up to that blue little apple that nice little icon on the top of the bar menu and you open up the system preferences which I already have open and you just go to the second roll. Under hardware and you click on energy saver and right there you could see that you could put your hard drive asleep when you are not using it. You could put up after 15 minutes or one hour it would go into a sleep mode. The hard drive will and you could also put your display asleep which I have set at a hour. Instead of a screen saver I just put my display asleep after a hour of just sitting there. It would just go to black, it just kind of go to stand by, it shuts off he monitor, and here is the cool part though. You could actually time when you computer goes on. So lets say you know I want to have it boot up in the morning for me maybe I have a project I got to work on I want it to start at right at 9 in the morning. You just go the schedule button right here you click on that it will open up this menu right here. You say start up or wake and you could have it start up on a daily bases, just on weekends, or weekdays or a selected day. So lets say I want to do it tomorrow is Thursday I want to boot up on Thursday at 9 am so I just hit Thursday and I select it 9 am. Okay and I hit okay and now it is ready to go it would start up in the morning. I could also select the shut down time or I could select so it goes to sleep. So I selected to lets say you know I work it on it everyday and I want it to shut down around a certain time. So I select shut down everyday and lets say I'm usually done with stuff about one o'clock in the morning. So I will have it shut down at one and I usually don't have these set so I'm not going to set them. But, that is basically how you could select your computer to go on or off when ever you want to.
