Understanding the Macintosh Dock

Hey it is Tony from expertvillage.com alright we are talking about the dock and we kind of started a little bit into the dock of the Mac Os X kind of left off at you know just kind of looking at the dock here. We look at some of the preferences and I keep my back at the bottom I think it is easy enough. I don't do enough you know once you move your mouse down the dock just comes up like that. If you have it down on the left it is going to come up. If you have it on the right and you move the mouse over it is going to come up. You can't keep it on the top though. You could only do it to the left, the right or the bottom. So I keep my at the bottom and pretty much there I go. I just drag my mouse down the dock shows up and I go okay. What program would I open today? Hey I like garage band I'm not a musician but, I'm going to open that right up. So you just click once and viola here comes the program. It is opening. It is initializing and soon we will have a garage band. I'm beyond means I'm not a musician at all so bare with me right here. This is just one of those songs that it came with but, I'm not really sure about Garage Band here. So that is how you access your applications through the dock. Now here is the cool part. Lets say I really don't want quick time here so I want to kind of keep the docks small. I don't use quick time a whole lot so I'm going to get rid of this short cut to the application. We that is easy all you got to do is click on the icon and then you could select remove from the drive. But, I like this feature better you just you grab it and you drag it all the way up and puff it disappears. Can you believe that adds like a magic trick and as you could see it is no longer there. Lets say that I want to put that back so go to my Macintosh hard drive applications and were it says click quick time player I just click on it and hold the mouse button down, drag that icon down to my back and I usually like to keep it right next to this line right here and boom there it is my quick time player is back. Just like magic.
